The universal audience for this is very large as it is does not have specified colours to suit a specific gender or age group. The magazine widens the audience by including a wide verity of genres and bands. Muse is a very popular band with the teenage population and as it it used as a main image it will attract a lot of attention. The Sub image in the bottom right had corner of the cover features The Beatles which are very popular throughout all generations and genders which will again increase the number of people in the target audience.
The fact that the Band member from Muse is hitting the Q logo with his guitar which implys that their band has done something significant for example got a 'smash hit'.
The style of clothes the band member from Muse is wearing will influence people of a similar style to take an interest into his music as well as his stance and facial expressions as if he was on the cover of the magazine in a business suit and tie with boring plain hair people might be less attracted to pick up the magazine as it doesn't relate to them.

The conventions of the magazine are the Logo as there is never going to be a magazine without a masthead.
Another convention is the main feature. The main feature in this magazine is Muse. Muse would of been the main feature of this magazine as they would have done something that would of got them popular in the media around that time for example they got an award for one of the best acts playing at Reading and Leeds festival 2011 as well as My Chemical Romance and The Midnight Beast.
The bar at the top of the magazine says "The UK's biggest music magazine", this will attract more potential buyers as people will know that it is a good trending magazine with quality information.

I was given a camera to go outside and take pictures so i could upload them to my blog. i used the elipse frame too to insert my pictures into and then edit them to make them more attractive.
